Beads have always been a large part of sea angling and although the simplicity has remained un altered over the years the wide range of uses has continued to expand.Included are just simple rig beads used as spacers between rig components to limit wear or buffers in running ledgers, then there are bright or luminous round and oval beads used alone or in conjunction with sequins to act as attractors which are very common in flatfish rigs and floating beads to lift baits clear of the bottom either to make them more visible or to raise them out of the reach of crabs.Possibly the newest type of beads employ built in swivels to be used in the making of pulley rigs or in very small sizes to attatch snoods to the main bodies of flapper rigs.
